Characterisation of Microparticle Waste from Dental Resin-Based Composites

چکیده

Clinical applications of resin-based composite (RBC) generate environmental pollution in the form microparticulate waste. Methods: SEM, particle size and specific surface area analysis, FT-IR potentiometric titrations were used to characterise microparticles arising from grinding commercial control RBCs as a function time, at time generation after 12 months ageing water. The tested two states: (i) direct-placement materials polymerised simulate routine clinical use (ii) pre-polymerised CAD/CAM ingots milled using technology. Results: maximum RBC was seen 360 s agitation 1290 m2/kg compared with 1017 for material. median diameter 6.39 ?m 9.55 FTIR analysis confirmed that sufficiently unique be identified consistent alteration outermost surfaces particles observed. Protonation-deprotonation behaviour pH zero proton charge (pHzpc) ? 5–6 indicated are negatively charged neutral pH7. Conclusion: large allows elution constituent monomers potential impacts. Characterisation this waste is key understanding mitigation strategies.

Nanoparticle-reinforced resin-based dental composites.

OBJECTIVE TiO(2) nanoparticles treated with the organosilane allyltriethoxysilane (ATES) are used to improve the mechanical properties of dental resin-based composites (RBCs, Z100, 3M ESPE). METHODS TiO(2) nanoparticles were sonically dispersed in an ethanol solution containing ATES. The modified particles were washed in pure ethanol and dried before being used as filler. Fourier transform in...

Ceramic whisker reinforcement of dental resin composites.

Resin composites currently available are not suitable for use as large stress-bearing posterior restorations involving cusps due to their tendencies toward excessive fracture and wear. The glass fillers in composites provide only limited reinforcement because of the brittleness and low strength of glass. The aim of the present study was to reinforce dental resins with ceramic single-crystalline...

STRENGTH AND FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF WHISKER REINFORCED DENTAL RESIN-BASED COMPOSITES

Enhancing the properties of dental resin composites is of interest to researchers. The objective of the present investigation was to improve the strength and fracture toughness of dental composites via addition of silicon carbide whiskers and substitution of commonly used filler materials with stabilized zirconia ceramic powder. It was also intended to study the effect of powder- to- whisker ra...

Factors involved in mechanical fatigue degradation of dental resin composites.

The design of clinical trials allows for limited insights into the fatigue processes occurring in resin composites and the factors involved therein. In vitro studies, in contrast, can fundamentally narrow study interests to focus on particular degradation mechanisms and, to date, represent the major contributors to the state of knowledge on the subject. These studies show that microstructural f...
